My son just started Kindergarten, and I started volunteering at his school for the occasional lunch. Through it I've been able to meet the staff, get to know his classmates, and spend extra time with him.
I help out in the cafeteria, mostly standing around until a tiny hand shoots up, asking for help with opening an applesauce or a milk carton. It's really sweet and brings me a lot of joy. I really enjoy chatting with the kids, peeking at the lunches packed with love (some are impressive!), and getting to be close to my son for an extra hour.
